Home Workspaces

The timing has never been more on point to blog about small functional workspaces. The future of where we work from is slowly changing, as we are seeing more people work remotely or from home. As interior designers, we feel it’s only fitting that we share some amazing local designed furniture pieces to help your set up your very own small power area. A space for productivity and a flow of creativity.

A lot of factors can contribute to the type of workspace you need. E.g. type of space required, storage needed line of work etc.

For this specific blog, we decided to focus on the small functional workspace that the majority of people living in urban apartments will need moving forward for working from home a few days a week.

We’ve listed a few small desks perfect for a new home setup where space is limited. Our favourite pick is most definitely the Flexi desk from dokter and misses that comes with all the bells and whistles.  Available as a basic desk with steel drawer or optimize desk-space by adding attachments such as a light, stationery storage or noticeboard with integrated bookshelf. What more could anyone want?

-        Sometimes bright and light is probably best when finding a new space or room for your desk. It’s also a bonus if you have a small window with a garden view as it’s a great way to sometimes reboot and give your mind a break. As humans, we all seem to gravitate towards nature.

-        Good functional task lighting for those who burn the midnight oil or do not have any natural light available.

-        A comfortable chair to support your back. Not a bad idea to keep a Pilates ball in close range to work that core.

-        Optional storage space. Always great to have a few shelves to keep everything organized. Keeping a few things out of reach for small children if you have them at home in today’s current situation.

-        Fresh flowers are always an added must. Just to boost productivity and your mood. It is always good to create a bit of happiness. I always find that a few twigs of eucalyptus can go a long way.

-        For some décor, we love the cactus planter from Rialheim that can be used for a utensil holder.
